Russian President Dmitry Medvedev inspected the facilities at the Sniper Refresher Training and Advanced Training Center outside Solnechnogorsk.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief took up a rifle which uses laser beams to hit an electronic target.
Medvedev did not shoot at the target.
“Well, how are you doing?” Medvedev asked one of the servicemen firing from an electro-optical rifle. At that moment a throng of photographers and TV reporters had in effect screened the targets. “I see they are interfering by clicking their shutters,” Medvedev sympathized.
Medvedev inspected different types of Russian and foreign arms.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief was told that the sniper training school has all types of small arms, including those used by NATO countries.
According to the military, no one denies the advantages of the Russian Kalashnikov rifle. But since no specific parameters were set to its fire pattern when it was developed, the rifle is inferior to a NATO assault rifle in terms of grouping shots.

Medvedev was also shown a map of a test course that provides intensive training for drivers.
